They are hard to maintain and may be susceptible to wear and tear in the long run. They may be perfect for decoration purposes only.

Duplicate Antique Bird Cages- Will they Suit the Purpose?

Antique cages picked up at garage sales and flea markets may not completely serve the purpose. They are usually of very low quality and are not suitable for use for long time. Authentic bird cages are suitable only for decoration as they are unfit to be habituated by birds. Duplicates mimicking the look and feel of antiques but made of sturdier materials may be preferred. Authentic cages may be placed in any room of the house and it will not disturb the décor at all.

The location of the antique bird cage is also a main factor. They are best suited if they are placed in the drawing room or the guest room. They are ideal for conversation starters with guests and need not necessarily be a home for the bird! They will still serve to fill up corners or unwanted vacant spaces in the drawing room.

Antique bird cages are ideal only for decorator purposes. They are available in the Victorian, French, Venetian and even Chinese types of décor. But they are not at all suitable for birds as they are very constricting for the bird and it is not possible practically to maintain them. The price of antique cages can also be very high depending on the type of cage. Antique cages should not be looked at as an option for a home for your pet bird, but they will greatly add to the décor of the house.
