To give your bird a feel of being on a real tree with the off shoots, you can give them a bird cage that can be perched. This is called the bird cage stand. The normal cage makes it difficult for your pet parrot to stretch its wings to a full span and also makes it difficult to play as well as exercise. This bird stand however gives the birds a variety from its normal life. When you are choosing one of these bird cages do make sure that the cage will not be broken by the bird, and that there are no parts that may harm the bird within the cage.
Bird Cage Accessories For Your Pet Bird
After you buy a cage for your pet parrot it is now time to get accessories for the cage. Accessories are put in those cages that have a little more space than what is actually needed. Many a time, bird owners fill the bird cage with these accessories just because they give a nice look to the cage. They do not understand that the bird cage accessories obstruct the parrot from having its normal exercise. Water and food dishes that are kept in these cages could get really filthy and cause diseases. Replace these often to keep your bird happy and healthy. Make sure you choose a material that is good enough to be cleaned every now and then and also easy to clean so that the pet parrot is not infected because of this problem.
Lot of bird perches do make the bird happy but make sure that you are not ruining the space in the cage by adding too many accessories like those. Sand paper and cement bird perches may affect the nails of the pet parrots- watch out. This may lead to infections and also injure your bird many a times. Birds may also become very aggressive if you let them off with nothing at all. So do make sure you do put at least some accessories in the bird cage but let them not clutter the cage too much. You can also look at adding colorful accessories so that your pet parrot finds it more interesting than normal.
Toys For Birds
Bird toys are small or contain parts that are small in size. This may affect the bird’s health if they are swallowed by mistake. There is a high possibility of your bird choking on these parts. So do not let your birds around bird toys that have very tiny parts or even if they are small in size. Your pet parrot may also destroy these bird toys. Don’t get worked up if you spent a few bucks on those toys as pet birds are very curious and hence fiddle with them and as you know most of them will break into small bits. Avoid swinging chains as they may get the toe or the beak of the bird caught in their links. Hanging threads may be another thing to worry about if they are present in the bird toys. These may be consumed and cause indigestion in your pet parrot. It is always best to get medium sized toys for your birds, especially those that do not have sharp corners, protrusions and are lightweight, yet strong enough to remain intact.
