Here are some helpful tips on how and what to play with your pets.
If you have a parrot or any similar bird, you can play a number of games with them. They are fun loving creatures and are very interactive. You can purchase small toys for them. When you start playing with the toys, you can be assured that they will join you soon. If you have a small ball, you can toss it up. Some birds will learn how to catch it and fetch it back to you whereas some others will just enjoy picking it up.
Make sure there is physical interaction. You can ape your pet’s movements. When your pet shakes its head, you can mirror the action. See if it notices this and repeats it! Parrots enjoy new adventures. You can take them riding or walking. They will absolutely enjoy it! Talking and laughing with your birds is also very important. They love the sound of laughter. Make sure they have a lot of toys to play with. Let them be occupied even when you cannot be around to play with them.
For other birds, see if any of the above games work. Make sure your birds get some time out of their cage. This is very important for their well-being. You can play a game of chase with your bird. Let it out of the cage and make it chase you around the house. And then, you chase it! This will not only provide your bird with good exercise but will also make it happy.
Some birds just prefer to have a quiet playtime. If you own such a bird, make sure you give it what it wants. Just let it sit on your lap and talk to it. Try petting it lightly. There are bird specific toys available in the market. Do not hesitate to buy them for your pets. They will absolutely enjoy playing with them and it will only add to their happiness. Some birds like the finch, do not enjoy playing with toys. If that is the case, devise other ways to play with them to keep them happy.
